Curious, skeptical, and sharing what I find
I'm in my forties, and a few years ago I started noticing things about my own body I couldn't get a straight answer about. Friends were having the same conversations. So I started reading the research myself, and FemOptimize is where I write down what I find — what the studies say, and where they stop short. I'm not a doctor and I'm not selling anything. I'm working it out too, and I'd rather share the whole picture than a tidy conclusion.
Why this exists
There are two usual answers when a woman in her forties asks why something in her body has changed. One is that it's normal and she shouldn't worry about it. The other comes from someone who names the problem precisely, agrees with everything she's noticed, and then sells her a protocol.
Neither of those leaves her with anything she can think with. FemOptimize is an attempt at a third option: read the actual research, explain what it says in normal language, be honest about where it runs out, and let her decide for herself.
What this isn't
I'm not a doctor, a dietitian or any kind of clinician, and nothing here is medical advice. There's no clinical reviewer on the site at the moment, and when that changes it will be said plainly on every article it applies to.
What I can do is read carefully, cite properly, and tell you how strong the evidence behind something actually is. What I can't do is know your history, your medications or your risk — which is exactly what a clinician is for. The two aren't in competition.
How it's paid for
At the moment, it isn't. There's no advertising, no sponsored content and no affiliate links — nothing on this site earns money when you buy something. If that ever changes it will be disclosed before you read the recommendation, not buried in a footer.
How the research works
Every claim traces to a numbered source, every source links to its record so you can read it yourself, and every claim about whether something works carries a grade for how good that evidence is. The full standard is onhow we research.
